For the Construction of the Three Gorges Project
To have the construction of the Three Gores going on well, the State Council established in January of 1993 the State Council Three Gorges Project Construction Committee (TGPC), which is now a superior decision-making organization under the State Council for both the construction of the Three Gorges Project and the people resettlement. TGPC is composed of the related administrations of the State Council, the administrations of TGPC, the Yangtze-River Three Gorges Project Development Corporation (YPDC) and Hubei and Chongqing, the chairman of which is the Premier of the State Council.
Major Functions of the Executive Office of TGPC
Make related suggestions on the policies for the construction of the Three Gorges Project, that is, those on the complex project, the transmission and submission project and the emigration; make related laws and regulations; coordinate with the administrations of the related province/ state-government-controlled city/ state government; study and develop the management schemes for the emigration of the Three Gorges Project; and take the responsibility for the preparation for the various planetary sessions and working meetings of TGPC and then supervise, persuade and examine the implementation of the decisions of the planetary sessions/ working meetings.
Departments/Bureau of The Executive Office of TGPC/the Inspection Office of TGPC
Eight departments, one bureau and one administration have been set up under the Executive Office of TGPC/ the Inspection Office of TGPC in accordance with their stipulated functions.
